Lifetime Support for Preemies
The effects of premature birth don’t always disappear after a child leaves the NICU. Illness, disabilities, or even just milestone setbacks can follow a preemie from infancy into adulthood. Millions of prematurely-born men and women face complications in their later years that still aren’t well understood.
We believe we can – and should – do better.
Prematurity is a public health concern with over 15,000,000 premature infants born globally annually. Only limited progress has been achieved with prevention of preterm births, and even less has been done to understand the challenges preemies will encounter throughout their lives long after their intense first stay in the hospital.
We are now facing an unprecedented number of “older preemies” living out the legacy of their care.
Preemie Crystal Ball is a research portal being developed for the preemie community through the lifespan of pregnancy to birth to childhood, adolescence, adulthood and the geriatric years. Our mission is to provide better data, better research, and better outcomes for premature babies worldwide – no matter what age they are.
